Introduction to the Conventions
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) are known as the Two Covenants. They are based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and are the two most binding and core human rights conventions in the world. Taiwan respects the significance of the Two Covenants and takes an act to implement the two Covenants precedent over other domestic laws.
